Serono Symposia International Foundation (SSIF) is proud to announce the winner of the PKU Academy Fellowship Program:

Priscila Nicolao Mazzola

Dr. Mazzola's research topic is "To verify the effects of acute and regular exercise on substrate utilization, oxidative stress and hormone levels in adult PKU patients".

The fellowship was awarded on March 23-24, 2012 in Rome, Italy during the 4th European Phenylketonuria Group (EPG) Symposium “Advances and Challenges in PKU”.

PKU Academy Fellowship program seeks to reward young graduates in medicine specialised or specialising in metabolic medicine, scientists or dietitians, who work in the field of phenylketonuria (PKU). The fellowships is awarded to support the planned research projects and to broaden the experience they have already acquired and documented in the field of PKU.

Duration of the fellowship is 12 months, starting April 1st 2012. The results of the research project of Dr. Mazzola will be examined by the Fellowships Committee, which will assess the opportunity of presenting them at the 5th EPG Symposium in 2013 and including them in the PKU Academy newsletter.
